Giorgi Kandelaki is a Georgian politician, journalist and historian. A graduate from Tbilisi State University, he also studied at Duke University (Durham, North Carolina, USA).

Kandelaki has been an outspoken critic of ambivalence towards the Soviet past as well as an advocate of rethinking of the experience of the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921). Upon his initiative, Georgian Parliament established the 25th of February and the 23rd of August as official dates of Soviet Occupation of Georgia and the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Totalitarianism. In 2012, Kandelaki was heading the project of transformation of the Stalin Museum in Gori into the Museum of Stalinism, halted after 2013. He also initiated draft laws aimed at full opening of Soviet archives in 2018.
