Listening to the news and communicating with a variety of people every day gives me a certain understanding about what is happening in today’s society. Being a poet gives me the opportunity to put down in shorthand how I feel.
Some people in public life seem morally empty or unsuitable for public leadership and so I write about them as “Snakes”. On the other hand, the spiritual side of life is calming and I write about “Angels”.
This collection of poetry is meant to create discussion and sometimes laughter.
Enjoy them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A member of The Writers’ Union of Canada (TWUC), Leanne Jones spent seventeen years as a teacher before turning to a very different calling. She later trained in security and private investigation at the Executive Security Company in Vancouver, operated by two seasoned investigators — both named John.
One of them, John Grady, had served as an undercover agent in the French Connection, helping to dismantle a major heroin smuggling ring. Both instructors were deeply religious and, at the first session, instructed their students to bring a Bible to the next class. The request came as a surprise. Not being at home at the time, Jones went down to Broadway and purchased a large white Bible, complete with illustrations.
When the students arrived carrying their Bibles, John Grady addressed the room: “Since you are all going to be fighting the dark side, you need to be armed with the whole armour of God.” The words would prove prophetic.
Years later, when Jones wrote the story of one of her cases, Blood in the Cabin, a producer purchased the film rights — and the proceeds paid off her condominium in full.
